It is a solution focused approach assisting as you, the parent / caregiver, discover the answers you desire that lie within but can’t seem to be connected. When dealing with a struggling teen, one often feels a sense of hopelessness and isolation. Through coaching, guidance is offered to help discover a new way of addressing the issues and responding to situations as to minimize the challenges in the relationship with your child.

Through coaching, you will:

  • Gain new tools and have more energy to deal with issues
  • Make better decisions for yourself and your family because your focus is clear
  • Learn how to be firm and loving but also tough and fair
  • Learn to be your authentic self

  • Experience a greater enjoyment of family and life in general
  • Develop balance in your life as a parent and an individual
  • Take action through goal setting, having mapped out the direction to best reach these goals.

What is a coach?
A coach is a highly-trained professional who partners with individuals to help reveal the parenting styles and qualities that are unique to the individual. A coach basically acts as a mirror, offering a transparent view of what needs to be strengthened or weakened in order to provide the guidance and tools necessary to navigate your child through adolescence, into the teenage years and prepare them for adulthood.

A coach helps to illuminate what is happening right now, distinguish the real issues, build new skills, challenge you to use new approaches, support you, and discover solutions that will promote change and growth in your relationships.

How does coaching work?
Through honesty, trust is built between the coach and the client in order to address the specific needs within the family unit. Some may include the need for setting clear boundaries, restoring or strengthening communication, gaining tools to nurture the family unit, or ways to better relate to the individual needs of each family member while also serving the needs of a family as a whole.

Coaching is always about you, the client, and where you want to go, what goals you want to reach and what the difference is that you want to make.  A coach will inspire you, energize you, and support you. A coach promotes learning, development, and positive action.  A coach is able to assist in removing the blinders and maximizing the inner potential

Coaching differs from therapy; coaching isn’t looking to address the “why” in your situation but the “how”! A coach meets their client at their individual point of need and begins seeking opportunities to promote change and growth. Therapy is typically a journey through the historical events that have created an underlying cause, offer ‘coping’ skills and strategies to help overcome and deal with the past hurts and trauma. Coaching helps reveal the tools one is already equipped with as to apply in the specific areas that need effective change within one’s self and the relationships within the family unit.

Coaching works best when you – seeing the gap between the present reality and the goal – are willing to learn, grow, and take action.
