The Family Hope Line is a cost-free placement service that helps parents find out-of-home programs to address the specific needs of their struggling teen and family. The goal is to find an environment that limits the exposure to the distractions which can prevent a teen from focusing on education, while at the same time providing the necessary experience to learn important life lessons.
Teens often carry many layers of hurt… failed expectations, low self-esteem and fear that can mask their potential and hinder their personal growth. When deciding whether or not to enroll your teen into a program, keep in mind that the temporary pain of physical separation can be the greatest step you can take toward reconciliation as a family.
It’s safe to say that for the first time, your teen will be surrounded by a peer group made up of teens who have each made similar poor choices, but are now striving to gather new tools for restoration academically, athletically, spiritually, emotionally and/or personally. If you are a parent visiting this site, you are one of tens of thousands who is living in a home with a struggling teen. Please know, first and foremost, that you are not alone and that hope is available in your situation. Unfortunately, in a time when teens are exposed to options that offer instant gratification, it’s difficult to create an environment that will minimize the distractions and reduce the number of people that may have negative influence. So, it’s only natural that we as parents want to prevent our teens from being exposed to these situations entirely. Here’s the pitfall. Their years as a teenager are a small glimpse into the bigger picture of their life. Instead of complete protection, our teens need an infusion of equipping. They need an opportunity to face their fears, become aware of their unique and individual gifts and learn ways to make better choices that can positively impact their life.
