Project Description

Young Adult Transitional Living

Transitional living programs are a fairly new concept in intervention services. They are designed to meet a growing need in which 18 to 30 year olds struggled to make the transition from teenager to young adult. They possibly flunked out of college or possibly resisted college because of the fear of failure or lack of motivation. They may also struggle with self-esteem issues, substance abuse issues, emotional issues, career and financial issues challenges as well.

These specialized programs offer therapeutic services focusing on emotional growth, academic assistance, career planning, financial planning, character development, life skills and substance abuse counseling. They offer safe, independent living environments that provide a supportive staff of professionals and mentors that can guide or redirect a young adult through self-awareness, accountability, motivational approaches and an environment where they can excel and thrive.

Young adults that face social and emotional immaturity often struggle to discover and utilize the unique gifts, talents and knowledge they possess. When the continually struggle they become discouraged leading to self-destructive behaviors. The goal of the adult transitional programs is to help build their self-confidence and self-worth so they can reach their full potential and be a productive individual.

Most programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual right at their point of need and helping then to discover their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. The knowledge the young adult gains through learning how they are individually wired helps them build upon their strengths and using their weaknesses as opportunities to grow more independent and self-sufficient. These programs help remove the black and white viewpoint that struggles create failure, but rather struggle foster strength and knowledge.
